Meet the Bosses
Each deck is led by a legendary Boss who champions their domain. Bosses start in play and are able to attack and use powerful abilities.
A Unique Resource System
Each turn, a locale from your boss's domain is created automatically, replacing the need to draw lands or play cards facedown.
Locales provide two distinct resources:
- Essence, generated by exhausting (turning sideways) locales and consumed each turn to pay card costs.
- Keystones, represents your domain strength, are passively provided and serve as a threshold to meet to play cards.
You'll use these to play other cards like characters, actions and equips.
Fast-Paced Combat
Bosses and Minions can Exhaust (turn sideways) to attack enemy characters. When attacking, you must first choose a Ready character as the defender, if available.
Attacks use a simple "meet or beat" system: if your Attack Stat matches or beats the defender’s, you deal a wound. Wounding rival bosses earns you Victory Points.
No need to wait: characters can attack immediately after being played.
Level Up Your Legends
As you gain Victory Points, your Boss levels up, gets stronger and tells their story:
Bigfoot starts in his young, wild days.
Next is him as a new dad, becoming more mature.
Finally, he's mellowed out but if you mess with his daughter Kidfoot, you'll still get that classic Bigfoot rage coming at you.
Deep Gameplay and Strategy
Obscurids is designed with deep strategic play in mind while still offering card designs that are easy to grasp. Here are some additional card types you can explore to enhance your gameplay:
Equip your characters to gain new abilities like the Magic Wand to start casting magic attacks at your enemies.
Use wonderous one-time use Action cards like The Tallest Tales to ready all your characters and attack again.
Play Quick Actions to instantly turn the battle to your favor or to help your allies.
